We must change this Government

April 2010

For the past 2 weeks it's been extremely busy for me more especially because the General Election is now less than two weeks' away. Myself, together with Conservative District Councillors, have been helping John Hayes with his election campaign.

The door-to-door responses have been extremely good for John. In fact, I have to say how encouraged I am to be told from a large proportion of the electorate how pleased they are with all the work that John has carried out over the past 13 years and, to be frank, the opposition from his fellow candidates is minimal.

I do believe, at long last, that policies are now the talking point of the general public. You don't hear anymore about MP's expenses and political apathy because the electorate are now asking questions about the economy, immigration, education, policing and crime - getting down to the real issues.

John has played a key role in numerous local campaigns to promote and defend what's best for our area. John was at the heart of:

  • The successful campaign to save the Flower Parade
  • The successful campaign for free passports for war veterans.
  • The successful campaign to save Spalding's Garth School from closure.
  • The ongoing campaign to beat off Labour's attempts to force South Kesteven District Council to build travellers' sites in the Deepings. John is calling for a public inquiry on the site proposed for Sutton Bridge.
  • John worked with local Conservative Councillors to secure new health centres at Long Sutton and Sutton Bridge.
  • The successful campaign to stop the Government closing the Land Registry Office in Peterborough.
  • The campaign against the closure of the Tax Office in Spalding. The public information desk at the office has been saved.
